Harbor Care Goes the Extra Mile to Get Ryoji Home to Japan

Meet Ryoji

Ryoji was a successful businessman in the music industry, but nobody knew how he ended up at the hospital without any ID or a home address. When the time came to leave the hospital, no family was found to take him in.

The Harbor Care Journey

Ryoji was referred to Harbor Care and our case management team got to work on solving his case. With the use of language translation tools and some good old fashioned detective work, we were able to get his passport from the Japanese Consulate. 

Ryoji was gaining strength in his recovery. The clean bed, medication help, and nourishing meals showed him that we cared. We were earning his trust and he saw us as an advocate for him.

The Journey Home

Ryoji’s son was found on social media by the team at Dignity California, and we were able to convince him to fly his father home to Tokyo. Ryoji is a proud man and didn’t want to return to Japan in old, worn-out clothing. So, our CEO gave him his own clothes to return home in style.   

Ryoji made it home safely and is being cared for by his family thanks to the great teamwork from Dignity California and Harbor Care.
